Ballroom
What is Ballroom Culture?
Ballroom Culture began in the late 20th Century in New York. It’s an Afro-American and Latin American underground queer subculture that has influenced much of today’s pop culture. Ballroom stays alive through People of Color who have a passion for dancing and community.
Dalen started Ballroom in Pittsburgh in 2009 white attending college. He started off walking fashion categories, but began planning events and organizing balls when he found his passion for social work. They see ballroom as an opportunity to compliment their social service work but also bridge the gap between ballroom and the barriers to healthcare.
